Led by our Director of Music Ministries, Don Feely, the St. Andrew's choir is a rapidly expanding group with an ever-increasing repertoire. They perform at nearly all services, including special holiday services such as Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve and one or two major presentations with strings and brass during the year. Music styles include classical, sacred, gospel, and liturgical music. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room.
Begun in 2005, the band includes include a small group of vocalists plus guitar (bass, lead, acoustuc), percussion, keyboard, as well as other instruments. The Band leads worship twice a month, drawing upon a repertoire of contemporary praise, jazz, and global music. Especially for young people, the worship band is directed by Tom Campbell-Schmitt.
New in Fall 2006, the children's choir is conducted by David Oh. During Sunday worship, following the children's moment, children grades K-5 are excused to participate in Christian music workshops, including vocal and hand chime music. The children perform several times a year during worship services. Held September through May. (more about the children's choir)
Worship and the arts are inseparable at St. Andrew's. Music speaks the language of the heart for expressing personal and corporate praise, prayer and thanksgiving to God. It soothes the mind and uplifts the spirit. Visual arts, too, provide a multi-sensory way to express our deepest praise. They are gifts from God and there is a place for you to express your gifts and talents in our music & arts ministry. How would you like to participate? To sign up, see our Music & Arts brochure.
Our purpose is to provide a weekly worship environment in which all people are prompted to
EXPRESS
their praise of GOD,
EXPERIENCE
the presence of the HOLY SPIRIT
both individually and communally,
EXPLORE
the implications of WORD AND SACRAMENT
for maturing in faith, and become
EQUIPPED
to witness to and serve JESUS CHRIST
in church, culture, and world.
We will do this through offering worship experiences that share an essential focus, embody a blend of historic and contemporary expressions, and engage heart, mind and body.
