St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church: The Connecting Place

The St. Andrew’s Foundation

The St. Andrew’s Foundation was established to provide a long term funding source for the church beyond daily operating expenses. Many established churches and other non-profit institutions have similar structures.

Our Foundation is governed by a board of nine trustees elected by the congregation of St. Andrew's with each member serving a three year term. The role of the trustees is threefold:

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my gift to the St. Andrew's Foundation tax deductible?
All gifts to the Foundation are tax deductible because the Foundation is designated as a non-profit agency under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
Why should I leave a bequest in my will to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church through its foundation?
The answer depends on what your purpose is. If you want to give a gift for the immediate needs of the church, then give it directly. However, if you want your gift to provide continuing support to the church's maintenance and its mission programs, the Foundation is a better choice because only the earnings are used, while the principal is preserved to provide future income.
Why should I consider making a gift to St. Andrew's Foundation?
Our God is a giver and giving is a call of every Christian. We are given the privilege of wisely sharing the resources God has entrusted to us. Our gifts will continue to support the ministry of the Church of Jesus Christ long after we leave this earth.
Is my will a Christian responsibility?
Yes. You are the caretaker of the many gifts God has given you. Any success you have comes directly from the hands of God. Your will is an extension of your responsibility after death. It is a way of saying "Thank you, Lord."
Do men and women both need a will?
Absolutely! Whether you are married or single matters not. What is more important is whether or not you have a responsibility for someone else's well-being or if you have specific wishes for your estate upon your death.
Are there any tax advantages to prepaying next year's pledge this year?
Yes. Depending on your tax planning, you will receive tax credit for the gift in the year it was given, even though it is for next year's pledge. To count for this year, it must be given by December 31st.
How do I give stock to the church?
Call the church office at (503) 246-4276 (ask for Deb Eimstad, the church bookkeeper) or Lee Smith at (503) 244-8101, for information. Remember that it is beneficial to both parties if you give the shares to the Foundation, a non-profit organization, before you sell them.
