How we connect with God . . .One of the names of Jesus is Immanuel, which means “God with us.”
We believe that God is with us. God has created our world and has created us, in God’s image. God is with us, having entered our world in the person of Jesus Christ. God is with us, working in and through us.
To connect with God is to recognize that God is with us. We do this in many ways. In fact, we believe that everything we do should lead us to the recognition that God is with us.
We connect with God in Worship, primarily at 10 AM on Sunday mornings. We join our voices in prayer and song, we listen to the Word of God proclaimed, and we respond to the word of God in voice and action. We participate in Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and we are sent out as the hands and feet of Christ into our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.
We connect with God in Groups, to learn, to grow, and to challenge each other. This happens in Small Groups, Youth Group, Mariner ships, Discussion Classes, Choir, Children’s classes, and in the work of Ministry Teams.
We connect with God in Mission, serving our community and our world together. We are called to work together in bringing hope and healing to our world. Acting as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in a broken world is one of the best ways to connect with God.
We connect with God in Community, recognizing that God is present as we love one another. We connect with one another over refreshments after every worship service. We celebrate at Family Friday Nights, on the First Friday of every month. We bring love and hospitality to those who are in distress, whether it is communion for the homebound, comfort for the sick, or a casserole for the stressed. Above all, we connect with one another as a multi-generational family of diverse people drawn together by Love.
